What are the benefits of dental implants?
Dental implants offer many benefits to patients. They are known for being very stable dental restorations, and many patients prefer them over dentures for this reason. Other benefits of dental implants include:
- Durable, long-lasting restorations
- Look, feel, and function like real teeth
- Can be treated like natural teeth
- No food or activity restrictions
- Customized to blend in with other teeth
How are dental implants created and placed?
The titanium implant must be placed in the jawbone and allowed to heal before the implant crown can be attached to the top. To do this, a local anesthetic is administered to numb the mouth before a small incision is made in the gums where the implant will be. Next, a hole is carefully created in the jawbone, and the implant is placed. Over the course of a few weeks, osseointegration will occur, which is when the implant will fuse with the jawbone. The custom crown is then created and placed at a follow-up visit, which will complete the treatment.
Are dental implants expensive?
Dental implants tend to be more of a financial investment than bridges or even dentures. However, many patients decide to go with implants over other restorative options because of how sturdy they are and how long they can last without needing to be modified or replaced. If you are concerned about financing the cost of your dental implants, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office. Your Community Smile accepts many insurance plans, CareCredit®, and Lending Club, and we offer an in-house dental savings plan to help our patients budget for restorative services like dental implants.Learn More
